A quick google search tells you that;
"A crisis actor (aka actor-patient or actor victim) is a trained actor,
role player, volunteer, or other person engaged to portray a disaster
victim during emergency drills to train first responders such as police,
firefighters or EMS personnel."
Simple enough, right?
However, because America is the perfect country we know it as, plenty of
people have proposed that all and any tragedies are simply said crisis actors
playing out things so.. The government can control you? It depends on what
brand of crazy you're into, I guess.
So why would I explain this to you? Simply put, Crisis Actors is also the title
of a bonus track on the album Spirit Phone, which deals with a lot of stuff of
a similar nature. Conspiracy theories? Half of the whole thing is based on them.
So, let's take a look at the lyrics and see what they have to say.
"Would you like to go
Deep inside the crisis actor studio?
Would you like to see
All the things they never show you on TV?"
First of all, an invitation to "you," to see the behind the scenes of how they
train crisis actors. Almost sounding like an advertisement to lure people
to see.
"Your baby's alive
Your family's fine"
These lines, imply that you are a survivor of some horrible thing, and that you
"lost,' your family, only to have them be completely safe in this building.
I'd like to share something, more personal here. I always misheard these lines
as "Your name is a lie," and "your family spies," which also gives off that
conspiracy vibe.
"Imagine a time
When dinosaurs ruled the earth
We can rule the earth"
This is assurance to you, comparing it to dinosaurs, to perhaps make it
seem more trustworthy. Dinosaurs existed, right?
Or, it's a way to show how it seems like we are simply animals, and
the government is our owner, to the insane.
"They've been leaving clues
Unobtrusive 23s and 42s
Those who do the math
Have been know to end up drowning in the bath"
There will always be a meaningless pattern that people take as word, and
as truth. Famously 42 in pop culture is "the meaning of life," that no one
understands.
People who seem to have "found the truth," take it as too much to handle
and could very well kill themselves over it. Either the group would acknowledge
this fact, or blame it on their local police force.
"The names of the odd
(The names of the odd)
The problems are real
(The problems are real)"
The "odd," are such believers that what they perceive isn't real, and have probably
been called that several times.
"The problems are real," is telling you that what they say is the truth, is the truth.
"The future was sealed
(The future was sealed)"
This again implies that all awful things (including "your" family passing away,)
was all planned by crisis actors, and everything was faked. You just, didn't
know yet!
This could be considered a strange way to cope with loss, or simply being
driven to insanity by refusing to accept they're gone.
After skipping the repeated lines, we get the strange outro of;
"...Malevolent gods
Are better than none..."
These "gods," are not referring to actual gods. They are referring to the fact
that to the singer, people are running all of this, trying to keep whatever they
hide from the normal citizens for their entertainment. Without them, everything
would be real, and you'd have to deal with the damage.
"The damage is done."
Your baby and family is dead. You, cannot deal with this. You turn to
a website, or a friend, or a magazine. It doesn't matter. You now repeat these
things to friends, hoping one day every evil system will be taken down
because of everything being exposed.
It is a shame, this wasn't a main track.
